Undefined System Type on Ubuntu

On Ubuntu (version unknown) Adrian Hill reported:

Running the command python then gives the following error.

~/gsas$ python
GSAS is being bootstrapped from repository to /home/adrian/gsas
Determining system type...
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "", line 17, in <module>
    raise Exception('Undefined system type')
Exception: Undefined system type

The cause of this turns out to be that the python internal platform.processor() is not being defined. This is certainly an OS/build bug.

The workaround for this is to change line in the file that reads like this:

if sys.platform.startswith('linux') and platform.processor().endswith('86'):
    repos = 'linux'

to be instead:

if sys.platform.startswith('linux'):
    repos = 'linux'

This causes the file to assume you are on an x86 compatible processor.
