278. Run GENLES

29At this point, we are ready to run GENLES to perform a least-squares
30refinement. GENLES can be run from the appropriate
31button on the button bar, by typing Alt-G, or using the GENLES command
32in the Powder or Xtal menus.

36As soon as GENLES is started, a box appears on the screen
37showing the refinement status. (See below).

42As the refinement progresses, the LIVEPLOT window automatically
43updates to show the observed, computed and difference diffraction
44plots as well as the background.

47When GENLES is finished and the window is closed, press "Load new"
48to cause the revised .EXP file to be read. (Pressing
49"Continue editing" would reject the results of the refinement.)

52To examine the results of the refinement in more detail, consult the
53.LST file. This can be examined using the LSTVIEW program. This program
54is shown above. Like LIVEPLOT, LSTVIEW is updated as the refinement
55progresses.

57The GSAS tutorial in the manual demonstrates use of POWPLOT to
58look at other aspects of the data, such as error analysis. This can
59be done by pressing the POWPLOT button or accessing POWPLOT from the
60menu bar.
